De Kock Servaas (1686-1741)
Servaas de Kock is the Progenitor of most of the De Kock's in South Africa. He moved form Middelburg in Zeeland to South Africa in 1707.
Not much is known about his line off work but he worked as a seaman on the ship to earn his keep. The exact line of work he did once he arrived in South Africa (Table bay) is not documented.
Servaas De Kock was Flemish and a definite Calvanistic Protestant.
He was born in 1686 and died in 1741.
On the 30/03/1713 he married Susanna Van Boven in Cape Town South Africa.
Susanna Van Boven was born on the 06/10/1697 and died on the 17/04/1754.
Out of this marriage 8 children were born. One of their sons Josia De Kock was the next De Kock on my lineage. (my Great Grandfather)

De Kock Josias (1721-1801)
Joasias De Kock needs some special mentioning. He was an extraordinary man. He was not only the longest living child of Servaas De Kock but also married two woman and had 16 children. He reached the age of 80 years at a time when the average life expectancy was less than 45 years.
He was elected as the Captain of the "Burgermag" (Head of the Civil Defence force)
He was also a farmer and the owner of a farm "Waterval" in the district of Villiersdorp in 1770.
In 1785 he also had fifty percent share of the farm "Bontebokskraal" which he shared with Gabriel Le Roux.
In 1792 he was the owner of a farm called "De Bot Rivier"
On the 28/04/1743 he married his first wife Elizabeth Maria Malan. Elizabeth Maria Malan was born on the 29/06/1725 and died in 1759. She was the daughter of Daniel Malan and Marie Verdeau who was obviously French.
On the 04/04/1763 he married his second wife Johanna Margaretha Otto. She was born on 29/10/1743 and died on the 25/03/1820. She was the daughter of Michiel Otto and Christina Johanna Piek.
The next person in my lineage was Daniel Jacobus De Kock who was born out of the first marriage to Elizabeth Maria Malan.

It is very interesting to note that Daniel Jacobus De Kock followed in his fathers footsteps and became the next Captain of the "Burgermag" in 1781.
On the 30/101774 he married Dorothea Sophia Otto. It is also worthwhile to take note of the fact that his father's second marriage was aslo to an Otto who was in fact the sister of Dorothea Sophia Otto his son's wife. Dorothea Sophia Otto was born on 27/10/1754 in Stellenbosch. She was the daughter of Michiel Otto and Christina Johanna Piek.
Out of this marriage nine children were born. The fourth child Michiel Josias De Kock was the next Great Grandfather in my lineage.

Michael Josias De Kock who was born on the 31/03/1782 lived in "Riversonderend"
He was a farmer.
The specific date of his death is not documented but it was sometime just before 1825.

Johannes Petrus De Kock was a farmer in the Caledon area called "Botrivier".
On the 07/03/1835 he married Margaretha Maria Catharina Delport who was born and lived on a farm called Oudekraal in Caledon. She was born on the 21/02/1820 and was the daughter of Jacobus Johannes Delport and Elizabeth Margaretha Botha.

Johannes Jacobus De Kock was the first documented Great Grandfather in my lineage that moved form the Cape to the North. He lived in Potgietersrus (my birth town) in the Waterberg district.
He was a farmer and the owner of a farm called Doornfontein in the district Waterberg.
He married Magdalena Maria Martha Steyn the daughter of Jacobus Johannes Joseph Steyn and Elizabeth Louretha Hester De Lange. She was born on the 05/06/1851 and died on the 29/07/1904.
He married after this in 1906 his second wife Elizabeth Helena Viljoen. She was born on the 26/11/1856 and was the daughter of Stefanus David Viljoen and Jacoba Petronella Jacobs.
Out of his first marriage eleven chidren were born and there were no children out of his second marriage.
The first son and child out of his marriage to Magdalena Maria Martha Steyn, Petrus Johannes De Kock was the next Great Grandfather in my lineage.

Petrus Johannes De Kock followed in his father's footsteps, he was also a farmer and continued to farm on the family farm Doornfontein in the district Waterberg close to Potgeietersrus.
He was also the owner of an property in Potgietersrus 'Plot 136'
He married Catharina Helena Austin. She was born in 1873.

My father was a business man and farmer.
On the 18/12/1954 he married Catharina Susanna Botha. She was born on the 10/06/1933 and she is still living in the Strand in Cape Town South Africa.
She was the youngest daughter of Theunis Botha and Petronella Buitendagh.

Johannes Jacobus De Kock although living on a farm until he went to University was destined to become a Surgeon.
He was the first in this lineage of De Kock's that obtained a University degree since 1686 as all the previous De Kock were all farmers.
On the 14/04/1979 he married Anna Maria Marais. She was born on the 24/02/1958 and is the daughter of Charles Gerhard Marais and Jacoba Dorothea Marais

No children was born out of this marriage.
Johannes Jacobus was also the first De Kock in this lineage of De Kock family, since the De Kock family arrived in Cape Town in 1707, who left the Continent of Africa in 2001, become an Australian Citizen and settled in Australia in 2010. From 2001 to 2010 he lived and worked in the United Kingdom before he made Australia his home.

Johannes Jacobus De Kock was born in Pretoria South Africa and spend most of his childhood in East London before he matriculated in Cape Town South Africa.
He move to the United Kingdom in April 2000 and lived and worked there until 2005. In 2005 he moved to Gothenburg Sweden. He adopted Swedish Citizenship and lived there ever since.
On the 11/03/2003 he married Ida Ulrika Bostrom the daughter of Per-Olof Axel Lagerqvist and Anna Ulrika Bostrom. She was born on the 23/07/1982. (alive)
